Is your fire extinguisher up to the task

Posted on Thursday, August 25th, 2011 at 2:18 pm

When talking about fire safety, one point many people miss is the fire extinguisher. It probably sits under the kitchen sink or in the laundry room and gathers dust. What many do not realize is that your fire extinguisher has to be inspected and/or updated regularly. Most new afff fire extinguishers should be inspected once a year, and in most cities, your local fire department will offer an inspection on the device. If this is not something you have time for, then it is recommended that you replace your fire extinguisher when the inspection time is due. Also if this is the route you take, please dispose of your extinguisher in the proper manner as laid out by your fire department or waste control company.

The Other Side

I believe in God. I believe that He sent his only son, Jesus, to die for us. If we accept God’s love and ask Him for forgiveness, we go to heaven when we die. I’ve believed this since I was little and now believe it because of faith. I have faith in what may be unknown, but it is a comforting faith. I think heaven is a wonderful place where we get to spend eternity with our Father. It’s a place where there is no evil and no tears. I am looking forward to someday being on that other side with Jesus and God.

Tell me

If I could tell my best friend one thing that I can’t stand about him it would be that he needs to learn to stand up for himself more to his family even when it will make them feel bad. I don’t believe he should be scrutinized for his actions, when they are completely acceptable and he is a grown man. I have told him this before, and he writes it off, or says that he will but it never fails, he always backs down on what he believes in and what he stands for just to make them happy.

33-MTL and Peer Pressure

I feel that I have never really given in to peer pressure. The pressure was always there for different things, smoking, sex, theft, drugs and alcohol. I never did anything based on anyone’s opinion of what I did except for my own, based on the morals instilled in me by my parents. I recall a time when I was made fun of for not smoking a cigarette when dared and I simply walked away from the situation, thinking that if these people were truly my friends they wouldn’t be so demanding that I try smoking, after I told them no.

Good stuff in life

Posted on Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 at 5:48 am

If there were only three things I could eat for the rest of my life it would be tomatoes, potatoes and steak. Each of these items is delicious and could be prepared in a number of ways. Potatoes being number one because I really enjoy eating them, baked, fried, raw, boiled and mashed. Tomatoes are so delicious and even though there aren’t many ways to eat a tomato they are simple and enjoyable. Steak is my favorite type of meat and I, personally, could not live without meat in my diet. Combining the three, I could make an excellent meal.

Badlands

The most beautiful place I have ever seen would be the Badlands in South Dakota. The Badlands are so vast, so breathtakingly huge that I feel so small, so insignificant as a part of this world. Looking at the natural occurrence in the Earth just awes and amazes me. I can’t imagine anyone visiting this place and not feeling the exact way that I do. It makes me feel like I am “home”, that it is the place where I belong. I could spend the rest of my life in a tent with no luxuries to enjoy that every day.

Boyfriends

Posted on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011 at 3:38 am

If I won the lottery a lot of things would change in my life. I would pay off all of my debt, my immediate family’s debt and my boyfriends debt. I would make sure that I had the necessities to survive for the next several years and that my family was taken care of, then I would do something frivolous to enjoy myself. Winning the lottery would make a huge impact on my life because I have so much debt I feel I will never be on track and have to give up some things I love just to survive.

Fire and Safety Measures

Posted on Sunday, August 7th, 2011 at 2:14 pm

Fire was the first weapon and resource that man invented. But over the past years the same resource has become a source of devastation. Many measures can be adopted which can control the issue to a very large extent. The most common one is the use of the class c fire extinguishers. It is far superior compare to the other methods because if we use safety signals and smoke detectors, ultimately we will have to run for our lives. Those measures can just alert people of a possible danger but cannot stop the fire from spreading. All modern homes need to be equipped with a fire extinguisher because of the possible dangers.

Santa Claus with a little girl

The family tradition that I will pass on to my significant other and kids would be the tradition of Sinterklass. My significant other and his family celebrate Christmas and other traditional American holidays but I have family from Holland, where they celebrate other holidays and different variations of holidays. Sinterklass is much like Santa Clause but “visits” earlier in the month and leaves chocolate letters and candies as well as a present or coal in your shoe. I remember having a lot of fun with this as a child and I would love to pass it along to future generations.

Scotland or Ireland

Posted on Monday, August 1st, 2011 at 1:28 am

If I had a honeymoon I would want to visit an old stone castle in Scotland or Ireland. I think the landscape in those locations is really beautiful, even breathtaking, and I love the architecture and “feel” of the old castles. I think spending a week in an old castle would be a memorable and romantic experience. I would prefer to visit a castle on a beach so that I would be able to enjoy the sand and the surf. I believe visiting something so old, such as a castle, would be a great way to bring in something new.
